A Study on the Development of a Standard Curriculum for Training Rehabilitation Counselors in South Korea

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to develop a standard curriculum for training rehabilitation counselors for people with disabilities in reference to the certificate for rehabilitation counselors in South Korea. For this purpose, we conducted a literature review of the current qualification and certification standards for rehabilitation counselors and developed a curriculum based on Tyler's curriculum development model. In particular, we set educational goals, selected educational content based on qualification courses and overseas cases, and made the draft of the curriculum according to the principles of continuity, sequence, and integration. In order to evaluate the suitability of the curriculum, we surveyed six professionals affiliated with rehabilitation counseling. Based on the previous process, we revised the educational goals and content of the curriculum, and then made the final version of curriculum. The curriculum developed in this study is significant in that to develop a comprehensive and consistent curriculum for training certified rehabilitation counselors in South Korea. In addition, this systematic and coherent curriculum will play a vital role in fostering specialty of the Korean rehabilitation counselors.
